Otro año más se acaba y, como va siendo tradición, toca el turno de valorar los juegos de 2016. The Game Awards, ceremonia anual que se encarga de valorar los mejores juegos de cada año no falta a su cita y ya conocemos a los nominados. The Game Awards 2016 se celebrará el 1 de diciembre desde el Microsoft Theater de Los Angeles.
No encontraremos a dos auténticos titanes como son Final Fantasy XV y The Last Guardian debido a que sólo cuentan los juegos lanzados antes de noviembre, por tanto seguramente les veamos en la edición del año que viene. Si algo destaca, es el dominio total y absoluto de Uncharted 4: A thief’s End y Overwatch en muchas de las categorías.
Recordemos un poco de la historia de esta ceremonia. The Game Awards son los sucesores directos de los Spike Video Games Awards. Estos premios fueron entregados entre 2003 y 2013. En esa última edición, Spike decidió cambiar el método de votación pasando a ser uno popular. Con una desaprobación bastante generalizada hacia esta decisión, Geoff Keighley (anfitrión de esas galas) decidió organizar la suya propia.
Este año, además, promete ser el evento online más retransmitido de la historia, ya que podremos verlo por Youtube, Facebook Live, Twitch, Snapchat, Steam, PlayStation Network y Xbox Live.
